Before you start
Stone Island is actually a scenic peninsula of palm groves and tranquil beaches sheltering Mazatlán's harbor. Crossing by water taxi takes just 5 minutes, yet feels worlds away: no high-rises or traffic, just oceanfront palapas, horseback riding, and freshly grilled wood-fired fish.
- Catch the local water taxi from Playa Sur terminal for around $2 USD round-trip.
- Waves are very gentle and secure for families with young children.
- Taste fresh wood-fired zarandeado fish and freshly cracked coconuts at beach palapas.
- For total comfort, book an all-inclusive catamaran tour with hotel pickup.
